The McKenzie Lake Residents Association is a non-profit organization geared towards providing a wide array of recreational services, programs and facilities for our members and their guests. We serve 3,200 residences and over 11,000 members. In addition to the lake, members have access to tennis courts, basketball courts, a beach volleyball area, and a toboggan hill.
Summer activities at the lake include various recreational opportunities for all ages. The tennis and pickleball courts, available on a first-come, first-serve basis, offer 4 tennis courts shared with 8 pickleball courts. Additionally, the basketball court features one full court and a half court, with 3 hoops in total, all set on an artistically painted surface. For volleyball enthusiasts, there are 2 beach volleyball courts. Families will enjoy the two playgrounds designed for different age groups, as well as the artistic LAKE letters, which provide a perfect spot for memorable photos.
For those who enjoy grilling, there are BBQ pits with charcoal available, though guests are asked to bring their own charcoal briquettes. The 42-acre man-made lake offers several activities throughout the year, with a large sandy beach for those who want to relax or sunbathe close to the water. Swimming areas are clearly marked, complete with a platform for jumping in and cooling off. Members also have access to boat rentals at no charge, including SUPs, kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats. Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy the lake, which is stocked annually with rainbow trout, brook trout, brown trout, and tiger trout. Finally, a spacious green area is available for social gatherings and other activities.
Winter activities at the lake offer a variety of festive and recreational options. The seasonal holiday light display, featuring a large array of lights, is turned on in mid-November, creating a beautiful winter ambiance. For those who enjoy outdoor fun, tobogganing, an ice skating rink, and an ice trail await. The basketball court is transformed into an ice surface, joined by an ice trail that winds through the trees—please note that no sticks or pucks are allowed. A deck with a large gas firepit provides a perfect place to hang out, stay warm, and watch the action on the ice.
Two large, illuminated pond hockey rinks are available for play, with a third rink reserved for daytime use only. For skating enthusiasts, there is also a skating path that loops around the lake. All of the skating surfaces are maintained with a Zamboni, ensuring ideal conditions. Additionally, ice fishing is an option for those who enjoy a quiet day on the ice—just bring your ice auger and fishing equipment to try your luck at catching some trout.
